Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Acknowledged as the most beautiful face in the World, a reigning queen of Bollywood and Bahu of the most prestigious Bollywood Family, the Bachchans, Aishwarya Rai certainly has stars down her feet. Born to Krishnaraj Rai and Vrinda Rai in Mangalore, on 1st November'1971, Aishwarya has an elder brother, Aditya Rai.

Her earlier lessons came from Arya Vidya Mandir high school, in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Subsequently she attended Jai Hind and rapurel colleges to complete her studies. Academically strong, Aishwarya had plans to become an Architect and was even pursuing studies for the same. But, stars had other plans for the beauty Queen as she gave up her Archtechture course to pursue career in medelling, indeed her destiny. The year 1994 prooved to be a turning point in her life as she participated in the Miss India peagant, winning the runner-up spot after Sushmita Sen. The same year she bagged the MISS WORLD crown and was reigning as the same in London for an year.

Following her peagant, Aishwarya pursued a full-fledged career in medelling and later ingressed Bollywood. Aishwarya made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam's IRUVAR, in Tamil which was a critically acclaimed movie and even recieved two National Awards. However, Aishwarya Rai recieved commercial success with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999. She even recieved the Filmfare Best Actress Award for the same. During the same year Subhash ghai's Taal did wonders at the Box Office and even recieved many awards.

In 2000, she appeared in Josh alongside Shah rukh Khan and Chandrachur Singh in which she played a Catholic girl named Shirley who falls in love with the sibling of her Brother's enemy. The film was a commercial success. The same year she appeared in Hamara dil Aapke Pass hai opposite Anil Kapoor. Mohabbatein, a commercial hit in 2000 saw Aishwarya in a supporting role. In 2002, Aishwarya appeared in an unparalleled movie called Devdas, playing the character of Paro opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The year 2004 saw Ash in her first English film, Gurinder Chaddha’s Bride & Prejudice, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.This was followed by her second English film in 2005, The Mistress of Spices with Dylan McDermott of The Practice fame. Her dance sequence Kajra Re from Bunty Aur Babli became one of the most popular tunes of the year 2005.

She went on to become the brand ambassador for brands like L’Oreal, Pepsi and Coco Cola. She struck a pose for many international magazines like TIME and was also voted one of the most attractive and influential women by several polls. She is the first Indian actor to be part of the jury at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She has appeared in The Oprah Winfrey Show as well. On a personal Front she was asosciated to Salman Khan initially during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999, their relationship was often reported in the media until the couple separated in 2001. Subsequently she was linked to Vivek Oberoi, but the relationship never got a nod from her side. After years of Media Speculation, Aishwarya Rai finally tied the knot with Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan, son of Amitabh Bachchan on 20th April'2007.

Aishwarya has lined up quite a few films for 2009. Among them is the English film, The Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin, the Hindi film Ravana and the Tamil film Endhiran. With countless awards and appreciation in her kitty for her talent and beauty, Its evident that She has miles to go.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif, one of the most sought after Actress in Tinsel town today, debuted with a bang “Boom” in 2003 in Bollywood. Although the movie couldn't do well at the Box-Office, it was enough for Film makers to notice her charismatic & dazzling face.

She was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri Muslim Father, Mohammad Kaif and a British Christian mother Suzzane Turquotte on 16th July'1984. She was raised in Hawaii and later moved to her mother's country England. She has seven siblings.

Katrina commenced a career in modelling at the age of fourteen years in London, and did campaigns for houses like La Senza and Arcadius and even walked on the London Fashion week. In the interim of her stint at modelling in London, she got noticed by the London based film-maker Kaizad Gustad who offered her break in Bollywood with “Boom”. Subsequentialy she got numerous modelling assignments in India but film makers were hesitant to cast her in view of her British accentuation and debilitated Hindi. However, in a short span of time she worked hard on her Hindi and piped down all Critics over the years.

It was in the year 2005 that Katrina's entry in Bollywood was acknowledged and appreciated as she got successful with two of her movies, Sarkar and Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya in that year that caught her the Stardust Talent Award for the year. In 2007 Katrina breezed in the hit movie Namastey London, wherein she starred as a British-Indian girl alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time after the box office dud Humko Deewana Kar gaye(2006). Since then, she has appeared in a series of box office hits that include Apne, Partner and Welcome.

2008 saw her in a brand new avatar playing a negative role in Abbas Mustan's Race, which did well at the Box Office. The same year got the hang of one of the biggest hits at the box-office Singh is King where she paired opposite Akshay Kumar. The year 2009 started with the release of New York where she was paired opposite John Abraham. The movie amassed her immense critical acclaim.

Her talent has been reaching new heights of success with every step of her career. In 2008, she was voted as the Most sexiest women and also was the most searched celebrity on Google. In addition to Hindi movies she has also delivered in a number of South Indian films. She has done two Telugu movies - Malliswari(2004) and Allari Pidugu(2005) and a Malayalam film (Balram vs. Taradas).

Commercials and Brand endorsements are always in awe of her serene beauty and capturing face. She is the Brand Ambassador of some of the most prestigious brands like Nakshatra, Spice, and was also the chosen face of “Lakme India Fashion week” 2005. She replaced Aishwarya Bachchan to endorse Nakshatra and Sushmita Sen for Pantene. She is also the chosen face for “Barbie” the international doll brand, which was speculated to be that of Aishwarya.

With Katrina getting the dues for her talent, she is no short of being termed as the “Reigning Queen of Bollywood”.
