Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Acknowledged as the most beautiful face in the World, a reigning queen of Bollywood and Bahu of the most prestigious Bollywood Family, the Bachchans, Aishwarya Rai certainly has stars down her feet. Born to Krishnaraj Rai and Vrinda Rai in Mangalore, on 1st November'1971, Aishwarya has an elder brother, Aditya Rai.

Her earlier lessons came from Arya Vidya Mandir high school, in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Subsequently she attended Jai Hind and rapurel colleges to complete her studies. Academically strong, Aishwarya had plans to become an Architect and was even pursuing studies for the same. But, stars had other plans for the beauty Queen as she gave up her Archtechture course to pursue career in medelling, indeed her destiny. The year 1994 prooved to be a turning point in her life as she participated in the Miss India peagant, winning the runner-up spot after Sushmita Sen. The same year she bagged the MISS WORLD crown and was reigning as the same in London for an year.

Following her peagant, Aishwarya pursued a full-fledged career in medelling and later ingressed Bollywood. Aishwarya made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam's IRUVAR, in Tamil which was a critically acclaimed movie and even recieved two National Awards. However, Aishwarya Rai recieved commercial success with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999. She even recieved the Filmfare Best Actress Award for the same. During the same year Subhash ghai's Taal did wonders at the Box Office and even recieved many awards.

In 2000, she appeared in Josh alongside Shah rukh Khan and Chandrachur Singh in which she played a Catholic girl named Shirley who falls in love with the sibling of her Brother's enemy. The film was a commercial success. The same year she appeared in Hamara dil Aapke Pass hai opposite Anil Kapoor. Mohabbatein, a commercial hit in 2000 saw Aishwarya in a supporting role. In 2002, Aishwarya appeared in an unparalleled movie called Devdas, playing the character of Paro opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The year 2004 saw Ash in her first English film, Gurinder Chaddha’s Bride & Prejudice, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.This was followed by her second English film in 2005, The Mistress of Spices with Dylan McDermott of The Practice fame. Her dance sequence Kajra Re from Bunty Aur Babli became one of the most popular tunes of the year 2005.

She went on to become the brand ambassador for brands like L’Oreal, Pepsi and Coco Cola. She struck a pose for many international magazines like TIME and was also voted one of the most attractive and influential women by several polls. She is the first Indian actor to be part of the jury at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She has appeared in The Oprah Winfrey Show as well. On a personal Front she was asosciated to Salman Khan initially during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999, their relationship was often reported in the media until the couple separated in 2001. Subsequently she was linked to Vivek Oberoi, but the relationship never got a nod from her side. After years of Media Speculation, Aishwarya Rai finally tied the knot with Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan, son of Amitabh Bachchan on 20th April'2007.

Aishwarya has lined up quite a few films for 2009. Among them is the English film, The Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin, the Hindi film Ravana and the Tamil film Endhiran. With countless awards and appreciation in her kitty for her talent and beauty, Its evident that She has miles to go.
