Amrita was born on 7 June 1981 Mumbai, she has began her career with the movie Ab Ke Baras in the year 2002 for which she has won award for best debut. Then she starred in the movie Ishq- Vishk and she has received her first award for Filmfare Best Actress Award.
While pursuing her degree Amrita has start getting modeling contracts and she has work then more then 35 advertisement. She has done modeling for fair-ever, close-up, Cadbury and many Hindustan lever's products. During that period of time only Amrita has completed her degree studies and after that she got entered in the bollywood industry.
Amrita was nominated and received many awards for dynamic performance in the movie Stardust Award Best Actress for Ishq-Vishk, Star Screen Award for movie Vivah and best jodi award for the movie Vivah with the super-star Shahid Kapoor. Renowned artist M.F. Hussin chose her as his muse and theme of painting after Madhuri Dixit. Amrita is brand ambassador of Miss Player, Titan, ITC, D'Dmas gold jewelery.
